Green Hydrogen: Europe Chooses It, in Brazil It Is Already Regulated

Jsquare builds a bridge between your company and the new Brazilian and European green economy.

The European Commission has chosen green hydrogen as a winning tool and has decided to invest in it to facilitate the decarbonization process. Green hydrogen represents a clean, effective, and renewable alternative that lays the foundation for sustainable economic recovery, and it is an essential vector for the long-term implementation of ecological transition.

In Brazil, green hydrogen is already approved by the State within a regulatory framework that, in addition to regulating the sector’s production, provides tax incentives with the aim of promoting investments in the sector.

Clean Hydrogen
Green hydrogen represents the clean variant of hydrogen: it is not naturally present and is produced through renewable sources, following the electrolysis process, from which it is possible to produce green hydrogen whose subsequent transformation produces energy and water vapor without generating polluting effects. For this reason, it represents a valid alternative to fossil fuels. Not all hydrogen is clean. The only sustainable hydrogen is the one identified as “green,” as it is obtained from the electrolysis of water using only electricity produced from renewable sources such as photovoltaics, wind, or hydroelectric power. Besides exportation, green hydrogen can be used in various ways in the Brazilian domestic market, including agribusiness and transportation.

A Regulatory Framework for European Investors
In recent weeks, the Brazilian government has approved the Green Hydrogen Regulatory Framework, making Brazil one of the most promising countries in production because green hydrogen must necessarily be produced from a renewable source, and Brazil’s energy matrix is 85% clean. The new development plan is already acting positively by creating business opportunities and providing legal security for companies.
The Regulatory Framework includes a series of measures to develop the hydrogen industry in the country, including the implementation of a Brazilian hydrogen certification system and a special incentive scheme for companies in the sector. The expectation is that the regulation sanctioned this Friday will provide greater legal security for entrepreneurs in the sector and encourage investments in the hydrogen fuel production chain.

A Development Plan Between Europe and Brazil
Thanks to the feasibility study for the development of green hydrogen, Jsquare offers the opportunity for European and Latin American companies to connect with Brazilian institutions and industrial partners for the development of clean hydrogen plants, offering advanced technological solutions and project engineering services. Jsquare’s management and development activities include:
• The commercialization of renewable energy through the sale and installation of photovoltaic modules;
• The design and implementation of hydrogen production plants.
